Time for a little rebrand
A while back I had some sort of fatal error with my website address which meant that I had to drop the .co.uk and become a .com. I am very much a non-technical person so I have no idea what happened and didn’t play any part in changing the website address. I just handed the whole problem over to people who do know what they’re doing and they managed to sort it out. It wasn’t a quick process by any means and it was a tricky time because for around a week I had no website at all (anyone logging on to the old one would have been greeted with a big red message warning them that it was a dodgy site!) and then once it was shut down and moved over to .com, I had a long period of building my web presence back up. What it also meant was that my email address changed, so I had quite a quantity of business cards with now incorrect information on. I continued to use them for a while and just wrote my new address on the back, which was okay but a bit unprofessional and time-consuming.
It was in my mind for a while to ask my daughter Molly to design me a new card as she’s very artistic and loves print and textile design in particular. However she always seemed to be so busy that the right moment never presented itself. I sowed the seed of the idea a while back but then in October she was back from Falmouth Uni on a reading week and it seemed a good time to ask. Luckily she said she thought she would have time to do it, so I had a think about what I might like for a design. I knew I wanted kitchen utensils and originally thought of having a grid of different sized boxes all with utensils in, but in different colours. I ran this past Molly and then this gradually metamorphosed into having 7 utensils in different colours in a row and then splitting them with a banner for my name and contact information. She drew out a rough sketch and I approved it and then she went off and came up with a suggestion for a final design. When she showed it to me, there was nothing that I wanted to change! I loved everything about it. She did two versions, one with text and one without and I have had business cards made with the text version and postcards made with the plain version. These will be for me to give to customers with a message for their particular occasion. I have given out my first one for a Happy 80th Birthday! I’m also now thinking that I will have an apron made to replace my chef’s jacket (this is printed with Pippa White Event Catering but I dropped the Event a while ago to be a bit snappier) and have my new logo on the pocket, so I’m going to try and get that ordered. Little rebrand done 🙂
Out with the old….
And in with the new….
